Cool or what?

Gordon Reid, instructor, International Aeradio Limited, and some of his Royal Iraqi Air Force trainees at Taji in 57-8. Taji later came into the news because it had become something slightly more sinister.

Note the soft-top Sunbeam Alpine, metallic grey. Father bought it off an Iraqi business man, had the seats re-upholstered in red leather. We used to go for rides out into the countryside at the least excuse, me sitting between my parents on a cushion over the hand-brake.

The Alpine was sold when we left in 1958. There was always a lingering regret it could not be shipped back to the UK.
